Media Types

Standard (FDA) Polypropylene (matches Ametek WP series) - Easily the most popular of all wound medias, polypropylene meets FDA standards for food and water applications. In addition, polypropylene may be used for various chemical filtration without fear of breakdown. Economical and effective, standard polypropylene is an excellent choice for many applications. Some of the most common uses are water, organic acids and solvents, photographic solutions, and petroleum, vegetable, and animal based oils. This product is resistant to bacteria, and is considered low foaming.

Fibrillated Polypropylene (Matches Ametek WPX series) - Although manufactured from the same basic plastic resin, fibrillated polypropylene is unique in the final product. Developed as filter for the electroplating industry, these cartridges contain no anti-static or lubricating agents. Fibrillated polypropylene is resistant to bacteria, and is completely non-foaming. This product may also be utilized for many of the same applications as our standard polypropylene.
Bleached (FDA) Cotton - Meeting FDA standards, bleached cotton is intended for water and food applications. Combined with a stainless steel core, this is the product of choice for hot water applications. For potable water and food, the bleached cotton elements will not impart any taste or odor, and are non-foaming. Other uses include organic solvents, dilute acids and caustics, animal, vegetable, and petroleum oils. All cotton has limited resistance to bacteria.

Natural Cotton - Unbleached cotton for industrial filtration of plant process water, cooling water, and for hot water applications when ordered with a steel core. Extremely economical, this cartridge will fit a wide variety of applications. With the exception of conforming to FDA standards, natural cotton may be utilized for the same filtration as bleached cotton, at a lower cost per cartridge.

Process Polypropylene - Nearly identical to standard polypropylene, process polypropylene is intended primarily for non FDA applications. Manufactured using a quality yarn, this filter is an outstanding value for many industrial uses, especially where very high cartridge turnover is anticipated.
